June 24, 2021

PAC International recently completed a new Bell 407GXi helicopter for the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Aviation Unit. The aircraft was delivered with a full law enforcement configuration to include AAI enlarged instrument panel, polycarbonate windshields, nightscanner searchlight, rappel & fast rope insertion systems, high visibility crew windows, and cabin sliding doors. PAC also installed an Air Comm heat and air conditioning system, Aero Dynamix supplemental NVIS lighting, Garmin traffic, XM weather and ADS-B, Eagle digital audio system, Rhotheta Direction Finder, and TDFM9100 / APX8500 tactical communications.

CNC Technologies provided a special mission suite that includes a Wescam MX10 camera with airborne displays, Aerocomputers mapping system, Trakka searchlight, Troll downlink, Meeker specialized mounts and a custom PAC tactical flight officer operating station. The aircraft exterior was painted to customer specification to include airbrushed police & county logos.

“It was a real pleasure working with Sgt. Shannon Mack and other personnel from the County on this completion,” said PAC Completion and Project Manager Marty Blough. “Having supported their operations for years, it was a privilege to work with them on the details of this new mission platform.”

The Anne Arundel County Police Department was founded in 1937 and launched the department’s first airborne operations in 1987, using a rented helicopter flown from Lee Airport in the Southern District. In 1996, the department acquired six surplus Bell Jet Ranger helicopters from the Department of Defense to assist in launching its first, totally in-house, aviation unit. Moving into the 21st century they began operating the Bell 407 model and are now excited about bringing the new 407GXi model into their program.
